Strategic Equity Participation Investments in listed companies

Principal targets: Listed companies

  • Investments are typically made by subscribing for new shares issued when the target company decides to increase its capital (private placement of new shares).
  • By offering its know-how (such as advice related to the formulation of business strategies and capital structure planning), Oak Capital seeks to enhance the Enterprise Value of the target companies and increase the value of its investments.
  • Oak Capital will examine ways for using to advantage existing assets as a business expansionary measure.

EPI Investments (= Equity Participation Investments) target companies that are already listed (or are in the midst of preparing for an IPO) and have decided to implement an increase in capital through third-party allocations. Upon purchasing private placements of new shares, Oak Capital will offer its know-how and help the investee companies settle on the right business strategy and capital structure plan with pertinent advice always focusing on increasing the Enterprise Value of the investees. This, in turn, increases the value of Oak Capital’s investment. As the case may be, Oak Capital will also consider alternative business developments and draw up expansionary plans that capitalize on the businesses pursued by its portfolio companies. Although a substantial track record of success was demonstrated at the end of the previous fiscal year, Oak Capital will continue to actively seek out attractive investment opportunities based on the judgment that this type of investments deserves priority attention against the backdrop of ongoing business reorganization in Japan. As a basic investment stance, Oak Capital adheres to its dominant principle of acting in agreement with the target companies’ management at all times.
